Thomas Clifton Morgan was born on August 14, 1928 in Marlow Oklahoma to Robert Harrison Morgan and Maude Schram Morgan and passed away July 23, 2016 at the age of 87. His youth was spent in several communities in Oklahoma and California before finally settling in Watonga. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma School of Law in 1953 and served in the US Army from 1953-1955 before returning to Watonga to practice law. He was a member of Kiwanis, the First United Methodist Church, and the Oklahoma Bar Association. He was married to Micky Ray on October 29, 1978. Tom was a third generation attorney and took great pride in practicing law. He found the study of law fascinating and he particularly liked the intellectual challenges of the profession. He relished the opportunity to help others and he often tried to help clients find ways to avoid needing his services. He practiced law for 55 years and never dreaded going to work. Tom loved life and could find the best in every experience. He was known for his relaxed and patient style, for his compassion and generosity to others, and for his wisdom and sense of humor, which were often combined. He had a habit of seeing only the best in people and he took extraordinary joy and pride in the lives of those he loved. He was especially fond of children and one of his greatest joys was in making them laugh. He enjoyed travelling and was always interested in meeting people and in hearing their stories. Tom believed you could learn something from absolutely everyone—even if it was only what not to do. He always tried to learn as much as he could about everything and often surprised people with what he knew and with what he could do. He loved being outdoors. In his youth, he was a pilot, a sailor, and a motorcyclist. In his older years he enjoyed being outside with his dogs or just looking out over the expanse of western Oklahoma and contemplating whatever came to mind. He was a devoted and loving husband and a wonderful father. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandson and he was a father-like figure to many others whom he also loved deeply and in whom he took great pride. Tom was preceded in death by his father, Harrison, his brother, Bob, and his mother, Maude. He is survived by his wife Micky of the home in Watonga; his son Cliff of Bellaire, Texas and his wife Kay; his grandson Tom of Houston, Texas and his wife Katie; his granddaughter Emily of Houston, Texas; his great grandson Lucius of Houston; and Tisha Zimmerman, whom he considered a daughter, of Kansas City, Kansas, as well as numerous other relatives and friends. A memorial service for Tom was held Monday the 25th of July, at 10:00 am at the First United Methodist Church in Watonga with Tracey Ivy officiating and with Wilkinson Mortuary in charge of the arrangements.
