Nola Blehm

Nola Blehm was the 2nd of 10 children born in Watonga, on Oct. 24, 1924, to George and Hulda (Ebert) Hursh. She passed away in Kingfisher on March 10, 2018, surrounded by her family. Nola grew up in the Hitchcock area attending school there through the 10th grade when her family moved to Watonga where she graduated from High School. After graduation Nola attended Hills Business Community College in Oklahoma City. After finishing Hills business course she went to work at Tinker Air Field. While working there she was put on Special Assignment and worked at the Biltmore Hotel working with aircraft engine mechanics and company reps from Dayton, Ohio typing and retyping their notes which became the 1st Jet engine repair manual. In 1944 she and longtime friend Mary Elisabeth Cavett joined the WACS. She was stationed in Pampa and Ft. Worth Air Bases and in 1946, after receiving “secret” clearance was stationed in Shanghai China typing war crimes interrogations. Nola worked on the ships newspaper on the trip overseas and on the return trip. Nola married the love of her life, Eldon Blehm, in 1949 and from this union three children were born, Carol, Don and Peggy. Nola and Eldon were members of and attended the Central Seventh Day Adventist Church in Oklahoma City where Nola was a longtime teacher in the Kindergarten department and served many years as one of the Treasurers. Nola worked at Continental Pipeline in Kingfisher for many years. After retirement Nola became a dedicated genealogist making detailed ancestral charts and ancestral history books for each of her parents as well as Eldon’s. She was lovingly known as “Grandma” at the local donut shop for many years by all the workers and many patrons and this carried over to other restaurants in town. Nola was preceded in death by her loving husband, parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Survivors include daughters Carol Lukasek and husband Danny, Peggy Osterholt and son Don Blehm. Grandchildren, Shane and Kelly Lukasek, Justin and Lori Lukasek and Cody Lukasek. Kyle and Monica Osterholt, Brian and Kathy Osterholt and Amanda Altizer, and Josh and Karmen Blehm. Great grandchildren, Spencer, Keelyn, Lennon and Landry Lukasek. Emma and Zoe Lukasek. Brayden and Aubrey Altizer. Ayden Marsh and Brielle Osterholt and Kevin, Gianna and Addie Blehm. Also, sisters Jean Grove, Marie Holt and husband Ralph and Ruth Lage and her husband Leroy, and brother Howard Hursh and his wife Joan as well as numerous neices and nephews. A celebration of Nola’s life will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, March 15, 2018 at the Omega SDA Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Omega SDA Cemetery Association, P O Box 241, Okarche, OK 73762 or the Charity of your choice.
